Bear Necklace as seen in the "Double Arrows" exhibit with milkweed cordage

1.5” wide pendant, hand spun, hand braided traditional milkweed fiber, dyed orange with bloodroot from the artists garden. 22” long wampum bead and loop clasp. 

This rounded,  thick wampum pendant shows a local black bear in motion. It was on exhibit in Double Arrows last year at Tufts University. The majority of my milkweed cordage gets used as warps for wampum belts, but it makes unique jewelry with a traditional flavor and works well in my twined soft fiber basketry too.
